Hillary supporters to get behind McCain?
The Washington Post reports about a poll that “more than a quarter” of Hillary Clinton supporters would vote for John McCain instead of Barack Obama. That is a very interesting result. It is important to note that the poll was conducted before Clinton dropped out and endorsed Obama.
Based on some of my previous blog posts, I think there are more registered Democrats than Republicans nationwide at this time. Because of McCain’s similarity to Bush in some ways, I think those Clinton supporters who said they’d vote for McCain will eventually change their mind. I predict we’ll see the percentage of those switching to McCain drop dramatically before this race is over.
I think what that means is that this race may come down to the independents. And this is where I hope the last seven years of the Bush administration and his low approval ratings will swing things to Obama.
At this point I think nothing is certain and I’m expecting to see a lot of nastiness thrown in Obama’s direction. It is going to get very ugly. Perhaps not directly from McCain but from Republican-backed 527 organizations, emails, blogs and various other methods. In the end, though, I think Obama stands a very good chance to come out on top. This is going to be a very interesting campaign and election…

Ummm, the 527 folks are the ones pushing this fake Hillary-supporter backlash against Obama. I know you’re smart enough to realize that, right?

If Clinton supporters have any political savy they would vote for Obama. The race was a race, it wasn’t personal, someone had to win. If Clinton’s supporters wants her to benefit from her race (i.e. getting a plumb position in the democratic party) they would vote for Obama. If Obama doesn’t win all the work and momentum to get people involved in the process would be for naught — wasted. McCain is a blubbering idiot who is going to do whatever the republicans tell him to do. If Clinton supporeters make over $1 Million a year they have nothing to worry about. If they make less than $1M a year they better know that McCain does NOT have their interest at heart. All McBush’s polocoes are for the wealthy in america; except for the soliders who he wants to keep in harms way for up to 100 years. McBush is no friend of the average American. If he wins people might as well start packing their belongings and do a reverse migration and go back to Europe, Africa and Asia because America will have nothing to offer.

People who assume Clinton supporters not voting for Obama are doing so because of some “spite” miss the point. Clinton and Obama are not the same candidate or type of candidate. I supported Clinton and would today if she were the nominee. I can’t support McCain because I am deeply against what he stands for. I also cannot support Obama because I do not believe he is a good candidate for president. I will simply sit out this presidential election. To some people this seems stupid. But I have to vote (or not vote) my conscience. I think there are a number of Hillary supporters who will simply stay home or who will go to the polls but not cast a vote for POTUS. There is the issue of the DNC. Many people are very angry with the party leadership, and I feel that way too. Obama has not convinced me that I ought to vote for him. Period.

I appreciate all the comments.
Kurt, is there a link for that?
huntingdonpost, I see your point. If faced with a choice between a candidate who you are “deeply against” and one who is presumably more aligned with your views but that you consider not “a good candidate,” I would choose the one more aligned with my views. Of course, there is always that third option, throwing your vote away, which I guess is at least preferable to voting for someone you’re “deeply against.” I sincerely hope the vast majority of Clinton’s supporters swing for Obama.

The Reverend James Manning has a new video out.
He is stating what I have written about in several of my articles.
If you are an Obama supporter, do you have the moral compass
to watch?

For all you disgruntled Hillary supporters who are seriously considering throwing away your vote in November by casting it for John McCain, I implore you: Please watch Bush’s War, from the producers of Frontline on PBS.
You can view the two part documentary online by clicking on the link in the Mz4Mz sidebar: 4More4. You can even download and print out a transcript of Bush’s War by clicking on: Night One and Night Two.
Watch this important television event, then Think!: Is your petulant act of rebellion really worth it?
